Professional Title: Professor

Education: PhD

Supervisor Category: Doctoral Supervisor

Research Fields: early warning, prevention, and control of emerging and re-emerging animal viruses

1. Introduction

Professor Chen is the group’s chief scientist, head of Achievement Transformation Department, deputy editor of “Chinese Journal of animal infectious diseases”, and head of the Veterinary Drug Evaluation Center, SHVRI, CAAS.

Prof. Chen’s research focuses on emerging and re-emerging animal viruses such as African swine fever virus (ASFV), Avian influenza virus (AIV), and Fowl adenovirus (FAdV). He conducts research on molecular pathogenesis of disease-causing mechanisms, and develop rapid diagnostic techniques for early detection of these viruses. He also works on the development of immune adjuvants and novel vaccines for the prevention and control of emerging and re-emerging viruses. He has successively presided over more than 10 national and provincial projects. He has published more than 200 papers in journals including PNAS, EMI, NC, JCR and JVI. He has also obtained two clinical approvals for animal vaccines or antibodies.
