The National Reference Laboratory of Animal Schistosomiasis was officially renamed in January 2018 as the National Specialized Laboratory for the Control of Animal Schistosomiasis. With the goal of monitoring, controlling and eliminating schistosomiasis in animals in China, the laboratory carries out corresponding basic research and applied research on the diagnosis, treatment, prevention and control of animal schistosomiasis, epidemiological investigation and research, and formulation of prevention and control countermeasures. 

The reference laboratory has 6 fixed senior professional titles, has won many awards such as the National Science and Technology Progress Award, the Provincial and Ministerial Science and Technology Progress Award, undertaken more than 10 national, provincial and ministerial projects, declared and authorized more than 20 patents, published more than 10 monographs, published more than 400 papers, and trained more than 80 graduate students, making important contributions to the effective control of the epidemic of animal schistosomiasis in China.
