The China-Korea Symposium on Pet Health Cooperation was held on April 8 at SHVRI, CAAS. Experts, corporate delegates and industrial organizations from China and Korea participated,  in-depth discussions were conducted on technological innovation and coordinated industrial development in the pet health field.

Han Xuesong, Party Secretary and Deputy Director of SHVRI, presided over the symposium. Li Zejun, Deputy Director of SHVRI, Moon Jin-san, Chief Researcher of the Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency of Korea, and Zhou Panyi, Deputy Secretary-General of the National Veterinary Drug Industry Technology Innovation Alliance, attended the symposium.

Han Xuesong extended a warm welcome to Moon Jin-san and his delegation. He noted that China and Korea have laid a solid foundation for agricultural science and technology cooperation, and the pet health industry boasts promising prospects. SHVRI has established R&D center for Pet Health and Medicine with robust research capabilities in companion animal biosafety, disease prevention and control, and pharmaceutical development. The institute stands ready to leverage complementary strengths with Korean counterparts, deepen technical exchanges and advance the industrial transformation of research achievements.

Li Zejun delivered a systematic overview of SHVRI's disciplinary layout, research capacity, platform development and international cooperation strengths. He highlighted the institute's latest progress in pet vaccines, diagnostic reagents, small-molecule drug development and pet hospital platform building. He also expressed hope to conduct joint research, technology transfer and industrial cooperation with Korean counterparts in pet health.

Moon Jin-san shared the delegation's investigation goals and cooperation prospects in detail. He stated that Korea has accumulated experience in R&D of pet health equipment and refined industry management. Through this exchange, Korea hopes to explore more cooperation opportunities with China in technology, market access and industry standards.

Representatives of the Korea Medical Devices Industry Association and related enterprises shared Korea’s mature experience and cooperation demands in pet health equipment R&D and refined industry management. Both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on companion animal disease prevention and control, innovative diagnostic and therapeutic technologies, as well as pet medical devices.

Zhou Panyi remarked that the symposium fostered China-Korea collaboration on pet health. She added that the National Veterinary Drug Industry Technology Innovation Alliance will provide full services for bilateral cooperation.

Personnel from the Division of Science Research Management, the Division of Achievements Transformation and core researchers from relevant teams of SHVRI, attended the symposium.
